Description
Most candlestick books show a picture, give the pattern a Japanese name, and say what it means. This one asks a further question: how would anyone know?
A Field Guide to Candlestick Patterns covers 140 patterns, bullish and bearish, from four standard sources. Each one has:
- A picture, with every candle numbered and labeled in plain words.
- An exact rule, with numbers in place of “long”, “small” and “about the same”, so two readers looking at the same chart find the same candles.
- Where it is meant to appear, and what the tradition says it means.
- How often it appears in random prices, where no pattern can mean anything. That gives every pattern a number to beat.
- Look-alikes, and how to tell them apart.
The book starts from the beginning: what a candle shows, how markets build candles, and how trend and swing points are measured. Its examples cover US stocks, index futures and currency pairs, on daily and intraday charts. The final part shows how to test any pattern on the market a reader trades, with forms for writing a rule down before looking, logging every case and judging the result honestly.
The book makes no promises and recommends no pattern. It doesn’t say which patterns work; it shows how to find out.
Who it’s for: beginners who want to learn the patterns properly, and traders who already know the names and want exact rules they can check.
Who it’s not for: anyone looking for a ready-made system or signals to copy.
Free with the book: printable PDFs, including the forms, a one-page quick-reference sheet, and practice charts with answer pages. They need a free registration with an email address.

Two things to check before posting. The registration line at the end assumes your site will have a sign-up for launch news; change it to whatever the page actually offers. And if you’d rather the description didn’t promise the downloads until they’re made, cut the “Free with the book” paragraph.
